Gospel Ministers --- GET OFF THE STAGE! By Olumide Iyun.

This is a very deep message from my Producer and Pastor, Olumide Iyun.

It is not just a message we read and forget. Please think over these words.

A few years ago, these words rang in my spirit strongly. Today, I could sense a rebuke that I had not delivered the message. So please hear me out for a minute or two. Many programs have placed us on pedestals, and the focus has shifted. Remember that we are not the center of attraction, not the desire of nations, not the Healer, Saviour, Deliverer, Redeemer, or the Life-Giver. It isn't our banners we are raising or our flags we are flying. We are anointed channels, faucets, pipes, earthen vessels bearing Treasure. Anointed, yes but earthen vessels. Let us take a deep look and search our hearts again. Let our ministry be pure and in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, not of our oratory skills, stage management, musical excellence and aesthetics. Please...let's get off the stage. We're blocking the view.

Your Lifestyle matters

Years back while I was Still in school, I had a Muslim roommate that wasn't so friendly in my hostel and somehow we became friends and started doing somethings together. But when it comes to religion, we always go our different ways.

I couldn't preach to her about Christ or tell her to follow me to church because i know she was a very strong Muslim but I do pray for her.
Every Wednesday we have our fellowship in school at the chapel, and i never invited her because she will always say "No ". Despite our different religion, we were still very good friends.

Now, she's always hearing people say  I sing very well and most times my roommates want to join me to church just to hear me lead praise. She's always left alone whenever we go for fellowship.

One faithful day, this Muslim friend of mine, called me that she really likes my person and character?  and she would love to hear me sing and that when next I'm going for fellowship, she wants to go with me. Honestly I was shocked but I was also happy that she would havea different feel for once. The next fellowship meeting, I made sure I didn't delay her to get there early and she really enjoyed the service.
That was how she received Christ and became a Christian.
Dear musicians, people watch what we do and how we treat people. Let your lifestyle also make people want to follow this God you serve. You don't know who is watching you. Your life could be the first bible they will every read. You don't know who will receive christ because they see God in you. Be conscious about how you treat people. Be a blessing and not a barrier.
God bless you as we make God proud.

Show your Instrumentalists love.

So I was talking with an instrumentalist some days back and he was sharing with me how churches treat them. They are not respected because they play "an ordinary" instrument. Interesting!!!! But they make the music.

I felt so concerned because the church boils down to you and me.  It is beyond the building we see. Every skilled or gifted man or woman in the house of the lord is important and the same.

Being an instrumentalist doesn't mean they are slaves in churches. I hear people address them as though they are not even worth the money they are being paid.  Some of these men are married with children and that is  their job. Does that mean they don't need to be paid? Don't they deserve respect also? They were employed to work and most of them just found their way into church. Can they also know this God through our actions and characters? Preaching alone is not enough. If you dont treat them well, they won't even believe in the God you want them to encounter.

I've noticed also that a lot of them don't even have interest to partake in the church programmes if they are on leave or break. They prefer sitting back at home. Most times they say " they don't practice What they preach " and they will prefer worshiping somewhere else.  What must have gone wrong? Can we show them some love? Some of them needs Christ like we do. They have to make heaven like we want to. Don't treat like they are not important. Help them get better. Show love today.

Follow your passion

So last month, 8th of march, I shared my first post on my blog.  Its one of my thoughts though to help encourage gospel artists, especially those that really need help with advertising their music and reaching out to more people.

It wasn't easy at first sharing my vision with some friends to get their opinion too. I was discouraged by some, i didn't even get answers from some also. But i made up my mind to follow what my heart wanted.

A lot of times, we wait for people to approve for us. And if they don't, we get discouraged and loose out from what would have been a channel to bless someone.

God has opened my eyes to see the heart of men. Some may never want you to move from the level you are. Some may never want you to go ahead of them.
If you want to be successful in your vision, you have to be deliberate in your actions. Don't look at anyone who wants to discourage you. Work towards it. It may seem slow but you must get there someday.
If i had relaxed, i wont be saying "thank you" to you reading this.

Its a divine mandate we must all fulfill  "Go ye into the world and preach the good news to all creature". MARK 16:15.
The world needs to hear your voice. Dont stop till Jesus comes.

YOU ARE A GOSPEL MINISTER BUT THERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN ALSO BLESS LIVES. YOU ARE NOT JUST LOADED TO SING. CHECK DEEP!!!

I found another part of me and worked with it and to God's glory I have received messages and prayers.
Thank you all for reading and sharing. I know  together we will spread Jesus to the world.

Shalom.

GOSPEL MINISTERS - DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?

There are so many gospel artiste out there that have seen music as a business and have stuck to it like a life time job. Its alright, if God has told you  to do so.

Have you really checked if that is all you want to do to earn a living, To get married,   get a roof over your head, train your children? ..... Remember everyday you grow older and responsibilities increases by the day

We have looked at our big brothers and sisters in ministry that they are making it big and we have decided to follow too.
A lot of these people we want to copy already have businesses running, offices, boutiques, hotels, houses on rent, salons, bakeries, schools, some already run studios for rehearsals and are earning money. Some are into real estates. Some still practice in their field.
Check the scene today, the gospel ministers 25  years ago are not on the stage like they use to be because God has raised more of his servants to take over. So tell me, are they still depending on the honorarium alone to survive?
Dear Gospel ministers, this honorarium may not last forever. God is raising more men and women and you will need to rest one day and hand over the baton.

Your ministry is a calling you have to fulfil as a child of God. What if you are not invited for programs for 7 months? How would you survive?
Ponder over these things.
Shalom.

Your ministry is a personal mission

Gospel minister always feel their churches/pastors don’t assist them in their work and growth process. They don't give them platforms to be known, no body supports financially etc.

This has been going on for a while in different places. Yes, we always feel our help must come from our pastors and so on. Sometimes we want to put our blames on others because they were not there for us.

It is only God that can help you. When God links you to your helpers, no power on earth can stop you.  Don't wait for your pastor to give you a platform or bring the money to help you. What if he is not the one God has ordained to push you to where God has destined for you?

Every pastor is running their own race, they are also struggling to make heaven. Don't think it is easy with them. The same race you are in is the same they are too. THIS RACE IS PERSONAL. Your ministry is also a personal mission assigned to you by God.  God can use anyone to support your ministry. Your prayer is to meet those helpers God has destined for your life.

Activate your faith, Let God's grace rest on you. When you put your hope and trust in man, it will fail, let God be the centre of it.
You don’t have to look at any man. Look unto God who is the author (originator) and finisher of our faith. Heb 12: 2.
God bless you.
Shalom!
